ICD will bring ASTRON to this presentation.
ASTRON is the Netherlands Institute for Radio Astronomy.
They build and operate large radio telescopes that scientists use to study space. Instead of looking at visible light like regular telescopes, their equipment detects radio waves coming from things like distant galaxies, pulsars, and black holes.
ASTRON is best known for developing and running LOFAR (the Low Frequency Array), a huge network of radio antennas spread across Europe. It’s used by researchers to study how the universe formed and how it’s evolving.
Besides running telescopes, they also design new technology for future radio astronomy projects and work closely with universities and international research partners.
